My name is Debbie .I am married to Delme and have two children Emma who is 23 and Ceri who is 17.I am a nail technician and just over a year ago I opened my own nail salon in our city of Swansea. We are owned by three bullmastiffs and a golden retriever . I have had dogs all my life but realised I wanted another dog when my daughter left home and took Pepsi our cross staff with her .Pepsi who was nearly ten years old at the time missed Emma so much I had to let her go .Frederica our golden retriever who was also nearly ten years old needed a companion and as Fred was primarily my husbands dog it was left to me to make a choice as to the breed we would finally decide on. I spent many happy hours looking at different breeds and eventually decided on a Bullmastiff .To cut a long story short five months later after looking at lots of different breeders and their dogs we bought my ‘Princess’ Nomsi .She is a brindle bullmastiff who has the most loving temperament of any dog that I have ever had the pleasure to own .She gave Fred a new lease of life and apart from a few problems .. mainly chewing, she has turned out to be the perfect companion so much so that I cannot bear to be apart from her. Eighteen months after getting her the breeder we had her from asked us to foster a rescue bullmastiff that had been very badly beaten and locked in a stable with little or no human contact for almost a year. Alfie arrived at our home a fawn bullmastiff of about two years old; he was at least four stone under weight, covered in fleas (the biggest our vet had ever seen) he had open wounds, the results of severe beatings. He was in a very sorry state, Nervous of everything and everybody. After five months of regular meals and loads of love, he was ready to be rehomed. We, Nomsi and Fred included could not bear to be parted from him hence our family grew again. He too has a wonderful temperament and it has been a pleasure to watch him gain confidence a little at a time sometimes now we think a little too confident especially with regards to our newest arrival Bentley otherwise known as ‘ little one’. Bentley is a red bullmastiff and is completely different to both our other bullmastiffs ..Truthfully he is quite hard work...He is very head strong and tries to be dominating and is exceptionally intelligent though again he has the gentlest temperament with people but not so good with other male dogs though that has improved . He has to be kept active in body and mind all the time...He has boundless energy where as the other two could happily sleep for twenty hours a day if we let them. Bentley has done well at obedience class passing his kennel club bronze and working towards his silver, he takes it all in his stride and makes it looks so easy the trainer says “he is, his star pupil”. I just wish he would put everything he learns in class into practise at home not only at class!!! In short we feel blessed to be owned by this wonderful breed and I can honestly say that I would have loads more if I was allowed!!!! My neighbours and family all love our dogs and all of them find it hard to believe just how gentle these giants can be. I hope the pictures of our babies give you as much pleasure as they give us.
